Assalamualaikum and hello to all readers of this blog.
May Allah bless all of you.
Do you like to read?
If you are, then we are a comrade.
I too do love reading. Reading is a great habit. Not only it is a great thing
to do during leisure time, but it can improve our knowledge too. It’s true that
we are all science-based students, but that does not mean we have no time to
read novel, book, and newspaper right? Haha.
So, what kind of genre do you like
to read? Fantasy? Romance? Historical?Motivational?Religious? I know every one
of us has their own preference of book’s genre.
As for me, one of my favourite
genres is motivational.
As a student of Universiti Kebangsaan
Malaysia, we will always busy with co-curricular activities and programmes as
to finish off our HC and to gain merits for college. So, we will interact with
a lot of different types of people, and to deal with enormous types of
problems. This will lead to stress.
Some of us will have problem on how
to deal with stress. In the end, it will cause depression, disappointment,
hatred, anger, unstable emotion and a lot of other negative attitudes towards
one self and also others.
So, I would like to share some of
the contents of this one book titled, “The Power of Positive Thinking” written
by Norman Vincent Peale.
The main point of this book is “the Bible is the one that can give you
peace”. I think that thought is interesting, so I gave it a shot because I
would like to know if I can convert the statement into “the Quran is the one that can give you peace”.
1. The author starts with his life story.
He said, he doesn’treally read
Bible, but one day when he went to a hotel, he read the Bible provided in the
hotel room. So, after reading it, he bought a small Bible for him to read
anywhere, but he will not read it in front others in public, because he did not
want to be thought holy or pious.
Now that is interesting, so I thought.
Later on, he changed, and now, he
brings it out on trains and planes to read.
Interesting, isn’t it? Let’s relate
this story with us, the-so-called Muslims.
In our society, it is really rare
to find a Muslim to bring out the Quran in the public, just because they don’t
like people looking at them, and thought they are some kind of a holy or pious
believer. I think, we should be ashamed to call ourselves a Muslim, if we are
afraid to be looking holy or pious when we does something Islamic or related to
our believe, our religion.
And so, I would like to conclude,
that Al-Quran is the one that can give you peace.
2. Worry??
Worry is simply an unhealthy and destructive mental habit.
The author of this book shared about a story of a man that
had his own way of overcoming worry.
That man
said, “Every morning, I spend 15 minutes filling my mind full of God”. “When
your mind is full of God, there is no room for worry. I fill my mind full of
God every day and I have the time of my life all day long.”
Okay, so the story above is about a Christian man. He
believes in his God, so, why can’t we do the same for ours?
We say Islam is the best religion, but do we even have Allah
in our thought and mind when we are worried?
Simply ask yourself.
Other statements from the book are,
“Worry is a destructive process of occupying the mind with
thoughts contrary to God’s love and care. Basically, that is all worry is”.
“The cure is to fill the mind with thoughts of God’s power,
His protection and His goodness.”
So, basically, Allah is the source of peace. If you put Allah
ahead of your worry, surely your worry will be out of your mind.
3. The
power of positive thinking
Below, I will list some of the statements in the book that
once gave me a shot straight to the brain.
i. STAMP a mental picture of yourself as succeeding! So,
always picture ‘success’ no matter how badly things seem to be going at the moment.
ii. Negative thought come in?? VOICE OUT a positive thought
to CANCEL it out!
iii. Do not build up OBSTACLE in your imagination.
Depreciate, minimise them!
iv. Nobody can be you as efficiently as you can.
v. Repeat this word; “If God is with me, who can be against
me!”
vi. Remind yourself, that God is with you, and nothing can
defeat you.
Those are some positive statements right? Especially when we
put Allah in our thought, we will be strong.

I would like to share the worry-breaking formula and some
guide to the way of happiness I got from this book, but I guess this post is
long enough.
So, let’s stay tune for Part 2!
Let’s embrace the positive attitudes, and do your best in
club activities and study!
